2 Things You Should Know (10% tax thing)

In January Sanchez dropped a bomb, mentioning an ambiguous 100% tax on non-EU buyers. This week, Spain´s housing minister, Isabel Rodríguez announced the new tax with the catchy title of “Impuesto Complementario Estatal sobre la Transmisión de Bienes Inmuebles a no Residentes en la Unión Europea” and we have all connected the dots, but, as far as I can see there is no mention of the 100% tax in either the bill or the video announcement.

Here are 2 things we should know:

👉 They consistently refer to it as applying to non-residents from outside the EU, so this new tax will not apply to buyers from outside the EU planning on becoming residents

👉 This is a central government tax, not regional
