Incoming: Waldorf Astoria Marbella – Hotel & Branded Residences
Marbella East is to get another boost: Waldorf Astoria will open its first hotel in Spain in Marbella in 2029. The project is led by Higuerón Developments with an investment of 220 million euros. It will form the centrepiece of the Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort, which covers more than one million square metres. The introduction of Waldorf Astoria is expected to strengthen Marbella’s position as a destination for high-end buyers. Luxury hotel developments often correlate with increased interest in premium residential properties nearby.
The addition of branded residences and extensive amenities may attract international buyers seeking properties connected to a recognised global hospitality brand.
The hotel will have 120 rooms and suites and will include private residences managed by the brand. Facilities will include a 750 square metre spa, indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, restaurants, a lobby bar, and a country club. The development will involve three Pritzker Prize-winning architects and updates to the existing golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1994.
The Waldorf Astoria development at Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort will include private branded residences managed by the hotel. These residences will be part of the integrated resort and benefit from the hotel’s services and amenities, such as the spa, pools, dining, and concierge services. Current public information not yet list specific details such as unit types, prices, although according tot he developer website, in addition to the 120 hotel rooms, there will ALSO be “120 branded residences managed by the brand itself, designed to combine residential privacy with the services of an ultra-luxury hotel.”
The Waldorf Astoria hotel will be located within the Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort development. The site itself is the existing golf course formerly known as Marbella Golf Country Club, which was acquired by Higuerón Developments and rebranded as Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort. The resort sits alongside the Carretera de Cádiz (N‑340) at kilometre 188 in Marbella East, a short drive from the town centre and approximately 30 minutes by car from Málaga Airport
The announcement was made at a presentation in New York, attended by executives from Hilton and Higuerón Developments. The project reflects growing investment in luxury tourism in Marbella and the expansion of integrated high-end resorts in the region.
